Narcolepsy may cause daytime sleep attacks. These episodes might occur during talks, eating, or driving, making regular tasks difficult. In addition to daily drowsiness, narcolepsy may cause cataplexy, sleep paralysis, and vivid hallucinations. Modalert 200 (modafinil) is given to control daytime drowsiness, but it does not cure it. Instead, they keep narcoleptics awake, improving their daytime performance. Effective treatment typically involves medication, lifestyle changes, and sleep hygiene.
